Camp thank-you letter

 We have been doing thank-you letters to people who helped on camp. We have worked on these for a while. Thank you  parents who helped make our camp possible!!

We will miss you Whaea Gee !

We have had a different teacher. She was a great teacher she was very kind. We will miss her a lot. 

Sailing the Pacific!

We have been learning about navigating. I decided to focus on clouds here are some facts that I found out .

The thing that I found tricky was probably also finding the facts because The website that we used didn't have many facts that on clouds and the one or two that they did have were very hard to understand.

The thing that I enjoyed was scanning  for facts in our group reading book.(I love books.)  

Kuaka

 We are learning to use visual language features to support our understanding of the ideas and information in the text.

The thing that I enjoyed was the feeling I got when found heaps of interesting words.It felt like a warm tingly feeling like snuggling into a warm woollen blanket on a cold day.

The thing that I found tricky was finding the information.I couldn't find any information that interested me, until I found these three facts.

One of my favourite creatures (Fish)

My family Just loves fish but I didn't until a couple of weeks ago.

My favourite fish is probably snapper I love their multiple coloured scales.

The reason why I like fish  now is because  they are on of the coolest creatures in the ocean also because  smoked  fish is DELICIOUS!!!!!

I also love fishing of course I don't like seeing the fish getting killed.

 

Tuia Matauranga Roadshow

 Yesterday we went to the Tuia Matauranga roadshow. We learnt a lot about stars. I learnt that the constellation of Maui's hook is real. There was a virtual reality station, i-pads and a really cool star map. We could even do a bingo sheet and the coolest booklets we could ever imagine. There was even a table where we could make modules of waka. My favourite thing was probably the virtual reality station.

My Speech - Kids Should Play Sport

WALT present a persuasive speech. 

What did I do well? The things that I did well was eye contact,expression and actions.

What do you need to work on for next time?The thing that I need to work on is not using my cue cards.

What was your overall feeling about your speech experience?

Do you think children should play sport? If you don't, maybe I can change your mind. Today I’m going to talk to you about why children should play sports.

My first reason is because it’s healthy. Sport helps you have a healthier heart and lungs. It also helps your muscles to develop and grow big and strong. Fat can block your veins so that blood can get from one place to the other. Fat has a lot of energy in it. When you play sports your body needs energy so it burns up fat that your body has stored. 

Now here is an example. When you do gymnastics your heart, lungs and muscles all get exercise and get stronger! 

My second reason is because when you play a game like netball your brain has to send messages to different parts of your body to tell them what to do and to get them to work together. This is called hand-eye coordination and helps your brain develop. 

My third reason is because you make lots of friends and you learn how to work as a team. For example if all my friends were away I would feel as if I was lost in a forest ,but if all my friends were at school I would feel as if I had got out of the forest. It is also tough when you don't know anyone.How would you feel?Here is another example if I didn't know anyone at soccer I would probably hide.What would you do?

Reason four is that sport teaches us determination. Like when you are running in a cross country and you are determined to get in the top five. You get tired and you get the stitch but you just keep running. Like last year if you had seen my face you would have known that I was exhausted and very surprised! To finish up on this reason I want to say that determination is important in a lot of areas of life. 

Here is my last reason. If kids play sports when they get home they won't bounce off the walls,run around and break things.If I broke anything I would never be allowed to play prodigy!Even if I promised to clean the whole entire house every day of my life.How many times have you said you would do something just to get out of trouble or to do something you really want to do?

Now back to my first question: do you think kids should play sports?

Sports is healthy, it helps your brain develop, helps you make friends, teaches you determination and means you burn off energy so that you don't break stuff at home. 

If I changed your mind today, awesome but if I didn't maybe next time.

Lake Ngatu Planting

 Yesterday we went to plant native trees at lake Ngatu .We planted 360 trees some of the trees were Manuka and Kanuka .We did this to help the environment we also picked up lots of rubbish.There were a lot of cigarette buts.One of my friends picked up 11 cigarette buts.We were there with Te Puawai and Te Kauru.

Yuck, gross! Kraken's are described as giant octopuses.(I don't like octopuses.)

I don't believe it! Kraken's  can brake whole ships!!

What did I enjoy? I enjoyed doing the Alphabet A-B Brainstorm.I also enjoyed doing the writing.
What was tricky?The thing that was tricky was the research.It was tricky because I had trouble finding the place to get the information.
What could I do better next time? The thing that I could do better is making my slide more interesting.

Lowdown of Lockdown

We are back in Level 2 again.
What were the rules?

We aren't allowed to touch any one and we had to keep a two metre distance.

Here are some things that we need to do!

1.We have to do social distancing.
2.We are not allowed to move from our tables at school.
3.We are only allowed to move if we are the teacher or the waiata starters.
4.We have to hand sanitise most of the time.
5.We are not allowed to hug anyone unless they are in your family.
6.You are not allowed to visit family that are in different areas.
7.We aren't allowed to share food.
8.We aren’t allowed to have gatherings over one hundred people.
9.I am nervous about people's health.
10.We can not play games like n seek tag and busted.

How did I feel?

I felt a little bit annoyed and a little bit excited.I also felt a little bit scared.

Diabetes

What did I learn from reading this text?I learnt that there is about one thousand children living with type one diabetes.I also learnt that diabetes cant be cured.

What did I enjoy?I enjoyed reading the text to find fact's.I also enjoyed doing the writing.


What was tricky?The thing that was tricky was the learning and keeping up and trying to get finished on time.

What could I do better next time?The thing that I could do better next time is add more facts.I also could of concentrated better.

Connected L2 2015 - Why do our muscles get tired?

WALT use our reading strategies to find information in the text.

 The thing that I learnt was that a way to beat muscle fatigue is exercising.I also learnt that Muscles need oxygen and energy to work.What did I enjoy?I enjoyed doing the tricky parts of my learning because I liked the times when I believed in myself.
What was tricky?The thing that I found tricky was finding the answers to the questions.
What could I do better next time?The thing that I could do better is understand more words because I cant remember much of the meanings.

Matariki

We are learning all about Matariki.

What did I find interesting?The thing that I found interesting was learning that there are actually 500 Matariki stars.You can only see seven with a naked eye.Why did I think it was interesting? because I  had no idea that there was more than seven. Was there anything that surprised me in my learning?Yes there was the thing that surprised me while I was learning was that ,I was really good at getting on with it.even when people were distracting me a little bit.Learning Reflection-What did I do well? The thing that I did well was doing my star. What was tricky?The thing that I found tricky was making my kite because it kept going all lumpy.What could I do better next time? I think I could improve myself next time is making my kite more creative. 

   

Moment in Time

My class has been doing descriptive writing.The thing that I found easy was adding the detail.The thing that I found tricky was writing because I found it hard to keep the writing up.I think the way I can extend myself is putting more describing words.

Celebrating Puanga at Ramanui

WALT find out what students at one school do to celebrate the Māori New Year. WALT to use the main ideas to summarise the text.

The thing that interested me was learning that in Taranaki you cant see matariki.The thing that I enjoyed the most was doing the reading.The thing that surprised me was that puanga marks the start of the moari new year.The thing that I found hard was the writing because I kept getting distracted.The thing that I found easy was doing the rereading.The thing that I think I can extend myself in is the writing because I struggled to do enough.

The Plastic Free Challenge

WALT find out some of the causes, effects, and solutions for plastic pollution.

Me and my  group read a book called  plastic free challenge.The thing that I found hard was doing the links.The thing that I found easy was doing the writing.I think that the way I can extend myself next time is putting in more information.The thing that I found a little bit sad was learning that only 5 percent of plastic is recycled.

    

Rounding and Compensating Addition Strategy

WALT solve addition equations using the rounding and compensating strategy.

Rounding and compensating is the most efficient strategy when we are using  2 digits and three digits.The thing that I found tricky was doing the maths when I was adding  163+50.The thing that I found easy was doing the taking away's .

My class has been making goggle slides about our bubble memories, what we did,missed,what we will miss,how we felt,the thing we liked most,who was in our bubble,the most interesting thing that happened in our bubble and our favourite memory. The thing that I did well was doing the writing because I have been writing heaps.The thing I found tricky was inserting the images.

In the shimmering blue ocean a terrified but curious diver is searching for some clams in unknown water.

Wasp-The striped invader

WALT find out some interesting facts and information about wasps.

The striped invader is what I have named one type of wasp.They are not like a normal wasp just you wait and see.The striped invader is really fascinating.

At first when I started to make the slide it was very hard because I had forgotten a lot about how to prepare a slid but when I started it became easier and easier when I finally got the hang of it I was really enjoying it.

I found the writing easy because my class has been doing a lot of it.I enjoyed finding out what a quality blog post needs.

It was almost time for our assembly. We had been standing outside for  a little while and finally we heard the starting bit ,Tuva-Lisa spoke then Atama  and then Alani then the trailer went on. Finally the music started and we all danced. All of me was nervous .All us Actresses and Actors danced  to the front and went behind a board. I was 100 percent happy we had to sit still. It was very annoying!.My favourite act was where Millan,Hori and Kaiora stole Zions,Mihi's and Kodas chromebooks!!!.now it was almost my group's turn I had butterflies in my tummy. Finally it was my group's turn.We went out  me,Kaydee and Carrie sat down on the chairs and Lucy stood up.This is what we said Lucy,today we are going to do mathletics.me,Kaydee,Carrie okay.Me hey Carrie hey Kaydee hey Carrie should we go on the cute hamster videos. A-Z Water Conservation

We are learning to save water because there is a drought and we have water restrictions. This means we have to use less water at the moment because demand is bigger than supply.
